Bagno Vignoni, Monticchiello, Montepulciano, Pienza and back

Val d’Orcia most loved film set! In front and behind the camera,
above and below a stage … Our journey will take you to suggestive places
chosen by the most famous directors!

Zeffirelli chose Bagno Vignoni, Montalcino and Pienza for Romeo and Juliet and for Brother Sun Sistem Moon. Andrej Tarkovskij elected Bagno Vignoni a set of his suggestive Nostalghia. But the most famous ones filmed in Val d’Orcia, especially in Pienza, are without a doubt the Gladiator and the English Patient. Montepulciano is in turn a set of The English Patient, in the name of the Pope King, the Archbishop, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Under the Tuscan Sun, and more recently New Moon and the I Medici fiction. And finally, a Tuscan history, an ancient tradition that comes from the locals, with the Teatro Povero di Monticchiello and its Tepotratos Museum, which has been on the scene for over 50 years and brings a “autodrama” to the streets.
